Yann Arthus-Bertrand is a French photographer, reporter, director and ecologist.
If I've chosen to talk about that, first of all it's because his work is outstanding, but also because climate is present in all today debates.
While looking his photos, one recognizes instantly the beauty of our planet.
I did not choose to present all of his work, only his photographs in the "Earth seen from Above" series. Why do I do this? Because his photos are magnificent! One travels through these photos. One discover our world and one realises that it is full of beauty, but also fragile.
Before starting, you should know that Yann Arthus-Bertrand was born on March 13, 1946 in Paris. His book "Earth seen from Above", first published in 1999 and from which a documentary of the same name was made in 2004, is a world best-seller.
So, as I was saying, the "Earth seen from Above" is a photographic book by Yann Arthus-Bertrand published in 1999. Composed of aerial photographs depicting landscapes of the Earth taken from a helicopter, this beautiful book proved to be a bestseller: 3.5 million copies in the space of ten years, this is the best-selling illustrated book in history.
According to the newspaper Le Monde,
"the beauty of the images, the precision of the texts, the attractive price, made it a historical book".
The author, who had mortgaged his house to be able to make the book, also recognizes that he changed his life, in particular because it allowed him to receive 6 million euros of copyright before taxes. This story had a happy ending!
I will leave you to explore and appreciate the photos of the "Earth seen from Above" series.
